In 2020, internist Joshua “Josh” Estep, MD, joined Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport, Oregon. In addition to his work at the 25-bed critical access hospital in Newport, Josh Estep, MD, maintains active membership with various professional organizations, including the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American College of Physicians.

Before joining Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital, Dr. Joshua Estep gained experience in outpatient and inpatient treatment over the course of a three-year internal medicine residency completed through the Augusta University/University of Georgia (AU/UGA) Medical Partnership. He also performed postdoctoral research in prion diseases at Colorado State University and has published work on prion pathogenesis in the Journal of Immunology. Between 2013 and 2014, and again between 2016 and 2017, he spent time as a postdoctoral fellow at the Zabel Laboratory in Colorado State University’s Prion Research Center.

Dr. Estep’s personal interests range from hiking the Appalachian Trail to playing the guitar. He also enjoys traveling and photography.
